Aluminum Hex is an extruded aluminum product that is very versatile and has a wide range of applications. 6061 Aluminum bar is made from one of the most widely used heat treatable aluminum alloys. It has excellent corrosion resistance, good workability and good machinability.  6061 aluminum hex bar applications include a wide variety of products from medical assemblies, aircraft construction to structural components.  6061 t6511 aluminum bar has a high strength to weight ratio making it ideal for any application where parts need to be light. Hexagonal bar sizing is given as the dimension from flat to flat. 6061 Hex Bar is available in full stock length or cut to size.

6061 Aluminum Hex Bar is an alloy made of magnesium and silicon. It has excellent corrosion resistance. Compared to other heat-treated aluminums, it is lower in strength but most resistant to corrosion. There are many different ways to form this grade of aluminum, such as machining, welding, hot working and cold working. This metal is very receptive to anodizing, and other coatings can also be applied. Its conductivity is 40% that of copper.

This metal can be welded using any welding technique. Temperatures between 750 and 900 degrees are recommended when forging 6061 aluminum. Hot working requires a temperature range between 500 and 700 degrees Fahrenheit. Alloy 6061 has a machinability rating of 90%. This metal has a high finish when machined.

When solution heat treating this alloy, it is best to heat at 990 degrees Fahrenheit long enough to heat thoroughly. After that, use water quenching. Precipitation hardening is possible at 320°F and air cooling for 18 hours, followed by 8 hours at 350°F and air cooling. To produce a T6 temper, an 8-hour aging precipitation at 350 degrees Fahrenheit followed by air cooling can be performed.

The mechanical properties of this metal make it a versatile product for different industries and applications. Some common applications for alloy 6061 include electrical connectors, marine components, fasteners, truck components, gears, machine parts, fixtures and structural components. It has excellent cold workability in the annealed condition. This enables it to be punched, cut, deep drawn, tapped, bent or drilled.

Aluminum hexagonal bars have many properties in the application. However, some of the properties in hexagonal rebar are good ductility, durability, high tensile strength, high toughness and high temperature stability. In addition to this, hex steel has more properties due to the presence of carbon alloying elements. Corrosion resistance, pitting corrosion resistance and crevice corrosion resistance are some of the properties that hex steel inherits.
